Metro Energy Solutions Announces 2nd Contract with Morris County, New Jersey

NEW JERSEY- May, 2002 - West Caldwell - Metro Energy Solutions announced today it has been awarded a contract to complete the second phase of a countywide initiative to upgrade the infrastructure of Morris County's facilities and reduce operating costs and energy consumption according to Robert Ragozine, Chief Operating Officer, of Metro Energy Solutions. The first phase of the countywide initiative included lighting retrofits at three of Morris County’s largest buildings, the Courthouse, the Administration and Records Complex, and the Schuyler Building.

Metro Energy Solutions’ contract for Phase 2 of the Morris County energy conservation initiative will include lighting retrofits at the Fire and Police Academy, Morris View Nursing Home, and the SEU Building, rooftop HVAC unit changeouts at the County Courthouse and the Fire and Police Academy, redesign and commissioning of an inoperable cogeneration system at Morris View Nursing Home, and the installation of an energy management system for the Administration and Records Building.  "We look forward to continuing our efforts to lower our operating costs while improving the environment and the condition of our buildings and we are encouraging our local municipalities, School Boards, and independent authorities to pursue these savings as well," stated John Murphy, Morris County Freeholder Director. "As we face the consequences of a slowing economy, these measures are the type of initiatives we must emphasize in order to keep bringing efficient government to our taxpayers," Murphy continued.

In July, 2000, the County Freeholders awarded a contract to Metro Energy Solutions, an energy services and energy consulting company, to act as the County's consultant on the project. Metro Energy performed the engineering and design for the lighting retrofit, assisted the County's purchasing department in preparing the bid specifications for the project, provided the project management and insured the project came in under budget. "We were very pleased to work with Morris County on this project. The Freeholders realized there were significant opportunities to save money for the County, while actually improving their electrical and mechanical systems," stated Ragozine of Metro Energy Solutions.  In addition to the energy and maintenance savings each project produces, comfort complaints from building occupants have dropped dramatically, according to Michael D’Agosgtino, Superintendent of Buildings and Grounds for Morris County.

Metro Energy Solutions has also helped Morris County minimize its out-of-pocket expenses by applying for numerous rebates from Jersey Central Power and Light (JCP&L) through the New Jersey SmartStart Buildings Program.
