Metro Energy Solutions Announces Contract with the New York Yankees

West Caldwell, NJ- January 2004 – Metro Energy Solutions announced today it has been hired by the New York Yankees to upgrade the lighting system at Yankee Stadium to energy efficient standards. Yankee Stadium, one of the world’s most prestigious stadiums, contracted Metro Energy Solutions to upgrade their existing lighting system, reduce their energy costs through energy efficiency and obtain any utility incentives available.  The project involves a lighting retrofit of 1,035 inefficient lighting fixtures with new T8 lamps and electronic ballasts throughout the basement and mechanical levels of the facility, including the Yankees and visitors clubhouse and bullpens, and the press room.  The project is estimated to save the Yankees over $45,000 per year in reduced energy costs, in addition to reducing its maintenance costs.

Metro Energy Solutions, on behalf of the New York Yankees, worked with the New York State Energy and Research Development Authority (NYSERDA) to capture the available utility incentives for this project.  NYSERDA offers many programs that offer significant financial incentives for the installation of energy efficient equipment. The New York Yankees are expected to receive approximately $18,000 in utility incentives to offset the total cost of the project. The New York Yankees self financed this project and will be able to achieve a 3.27 year payback due to the energy savings and utility incentives that Metro Energy Solutions was able to obtain for them.
