Metro Energy Solutions was retained as the general contractor by Trump Properties to engineer/design and project manage the installation of various mechanical and electrical energy conservation measures as well as water conservation measures at the Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

Metro Energy performed a site energy analysis and building assessment to determine the scope of work and calculate the energy, water and operational and maintenance savings that would be achieved by the installation of the energy and water conservation measures. Metro Energy utilized the Trane Trace 700 building modeling software in order to calculate the energy savings.

The mechanical and electrical scope of work included: Lighting, Demand Controlled Ventilation (“DCV”), Air Handling Units with variable speed drives, heat recovery systems, Variable Air Volume on Kitchen Hood exhausts, Water Source Heat Pumps, Window Film, Variable Speed Drives on Energy Efficient Motors and new Pumps and In-room intelligent thermostat controls.

The water conservation measures included the installation of; Low Flow (1.6 gallon) toilets, shower heads and sink aerators.

Other technologies that were identified and still under consideration for installation included; Escalator Motor Voltage Controller, Cool / Green Roof, Transformer Upgrades,

The total cost of the project was $4.9M with annual savings projected at approximately $1.6M in the first year. The estimated utility rebate for the installation of the energy conservation measures is $200,000.
