Upper Saddle River Schools, located in Upper Saddle River, NJ contracted Metro Energy Solutions to act as its energy consultant.  The contract was part of the highly renowned Rebuild Bergen County program.  Metro Energy Solutions was asked to improve the facility infrastructure and reduce operating costs at (3) Upper Saddle River Schools (Bogert, Reynolds and Cavallini).

Metro Energy Solutions conducted an initial evaluation of the existing electrical and mechanical systems for each school.  Based on the initial evaluation, Metro Energy Solutions recommended replacing the existing lighting system with high efficiency lighting and installing a building automation system.

Metro Energy Solutions was responsible for preparing and administering bid specifications, and managing the installation of the project. Metro energy Solutions included in the bid package an add alternate price option to install  a drop ceiling in specified areas of the schools to create uniformity.  The new lighting and building automation system is estimated to reduce the school district’s energy costs by over $32,000 per year, in addition to reducing its lighting and boiler related maintenance costs. The project was installed with the drop ceiling option, on time and under budget by almost $40,000.

In addition, the project was financed through the Bergen County Improvement Authority at 2.75%.  The bonds are backed by the County's Triple A bond rating.

Finally, Metro Energy Solutions applied for and was able to capture on behalf of Upper Saddle River Schools $27,000 in utility rebates through the NJ SmartStart Building Program.
